I am very happy that the time has finally come for me to let everyone know that I'm employed by Acquia. This company is going to do great things for Drupal and joining as an engineer working on Drupal core is a dream coming true. Let me share how it all happened.
We all live our lives within various communities, finding fun and joy in each as we fulfill our goals and help each other along. My first visible community involvement dates back to the start of primary school, where I started a table game creation group to make fun games for our class. My passion evolved later into working with the school newspaper, then organizing summer camps in high school, and conferences of all kinds in Hungary when I was at university.
No wonder I found joy in working with open source communities as well. I have been involved with the PHP team for years as the lead of the documentation team. I found Drupal in 2003, and immediately became obsessed with this great system. I put back as much as I could to help Drupal thrive. My dream job was to continue contributing, and I was thinking about possibilities to keep my involvement high but earn my living as well. Therefore I was thrilled that right after I posted about completing university in my blog, Jay and Dries approached me with an offer to work on Drupal. What a perfect timing!

You may have noticed that I've been a bit more available, involved, and responsive in the Drupal 6 development effort lately. The reason is that Acquia has been sponsoring my time. They've actually been paying me to work full time on getting Drupal 6 out the door. They've been cool about it too: never telling me what to accept or reject or how to modify some proposal to the company's gain. I've had the freedom to innovate and participate without having to worry about my "day job" and that's been great. My coworkers here at Acquia really get open source, so they provided me with authority on what I do, and trusted me to work in the interest of the community.
I am excited about all the great news around the company, and I believe that the team we are building is and will be a very good community player, advancing Drupal to new heights. That's why I am here.
